That's where Dan got the name; he also had a company called Altair!

Well, I do have my "poor mans" Krell, the Aragon 24k and 2004, which were designed by Dan (and looks like it inside, too) and sound fabulous.

No!For headphones I run a McCormack Micro Integrated Drive headphone amplifier off the second preamp out on the 24K.
