Hi guys, my friend recently passed me a set of pickups and he told me they are old Rickenbacker toaster pickups, but looking at it, i don't think it's an original. At the back of the pickup, Instead of having pole pieces, it has one large bar magnet, and instead of having screws and nuts to secure the cover, it has riverts, so most likely it's a copy pickup? Just wondering, with this one large bar magnet behind, is it a single coil or a mini humbucker? I've seen Korean toaster copy pickups sold by Eastwood Guitars in the past and they have two small bar magnets across the back of the pickup and those were mini humbuckers. The one i have is nothing like those Eastwood Guitars used to sell. Below is the picture of my pickup and a Korean one that was sold by Eastwood guitars. Oh by the way, i'm still loving my Rickenbacker 325. Thanks guys.

Definitely a copy, and looks like a single coil (which are cheaper to produce, usually found on copies..)

Thanks for the quick reply, i figured it must be a copy cos it looks totally different from the toaster pickups on my Rickenbacker 325. I have to admit though, i've never seen a copy toaster pickup with one large single bar magnet before hence i don't know if it's a single coil or mini humbucker. As for the more common generic Korean made ones, i know they are mini humbuckers and they don't sound anything like a Rickenbacker pickup. Once again, thanks for your reply.

If it's a true toaster, then when you flip it over you should see the ends of six alnico slugs, not the ceramic bar. Other details as well, but that's the main one.

Thanks for all the replies guys, i really appreciate it. As stated, i've never see a copy toaster pickup with a single bar magnet, so i'm wondering if it's a single coul or a mini humbucker. The more common generic Korean made copies have 2 smaller bar magnets cos it's a mini humbucker...
