Helter Skelter meets Nirvana. Of course Macca was able to pull it off! Now, what was that uke-meets-dobo instrument he played?

Looked like he had a glass slide on, too.

Indeed. He was effectively playing lead uke/guitar/dobro as well as lead singing.

I was there last night, McCartney was stronger than ever. A great show all the. Way through!

Definitely conflicted on this one.

Nirvana is my generation's Beatles. Without a doubt, the most significant band to exist in my lifetime and my favorite band of all time.

I can't think of many who are worthy of standing in Kurt's place on the same stage with Grohl/Novoselic/Smear, but I think McCartney certainly does. That said, Macca is horribly out-of-touch with "new" music (let's ignore that Nivana disbanded nearly 20 years ago..). He admitted freely that he didn't even recognize the other members of Nirvana while standing in the same room as them. Weak....

As for the performance? I was more stoked on seeing the remaining members of Nirvana happily making music together than the addition of Paul McCartney, which was not an exceptional performance, IMO.

He's what 70 or so now? I'm 46 and have listened to Nirvana for 20 years. Other than Grohl, I wouldn't have known the other two dudes if I was in a room with them. Cut the old geezer some slack!

I really enjoyed this. As for McCartney's involvement. I dont think Dave would have had it any other way. He is truly (and rightfully) in awe of Paul and probably has to pinch himself when he either:

A. plays beatle songs at the whitehouse where Sir P is sitting next to the prez
B. Looks out from his Kit and sees him playing and singing one of his songs

I know I would be.

I'm happy to see Dave bashing the drums, instead of being a frontman, for a change. "Foo" me once, shame on you...
Or maybe it would be better to say "i pity the Foo"....

Apparently that uke/dobro thing that Paul played with Nirvana is a cigar box guitar that was given to him as a gift by Johnny Depp.http://www.cigarboxnation.com/photo/resofiddle-with-amp

I think Paul was just being "Paul, The Entertainer," telling a tall tale. I'm sure his people prepped him thoroughly before getting his buy-in. Or if Grohl enlisted him. told him exactly who he would be collaborating with. He knew who he was jamming/rehearsing with, c'mon...

That's even worse!

If true, that's a pretty lame tale, going well out of his way to make him look even older and out-of-touch.
