Hm... Is it my eyes, or the hardware (tuners aside) on this 4080 does look as though the original chrome hardware was simply sprayed black somewehere along the line? Look closely. The black paint - I'm willing to bet it is just that, black paint - is coming off in places. I think I even see the spray pattern on the neckplates. Does that look normal to you? Hm? Anyone?
Having said that, it is a beautiful 4080. Grab it, someone!

I even feel the guitar has been refinished. Again, look very closely at the additional pictures. Tell me that I'm wrong. And the .0047 cap should be in there. No?

Does that look like an original finish? Not to me. You can't call it Rubyglo, let alone Burgundyglo, either. As for the 'black' hardware, it isn't but a (very lame) paint job. Two grand for so heavily modified a 4080? I don't think so. Your comments on this one, please.

Hm... No comments from any quarters, eh? That can only mean that I'm 100% right about the 4080 at issue. Incidentally, I tried to contact the seller via e-mail a couple of times today, only to get a server error message. What can the story be here?

I'd LOVE one of these but this one has a few issues that I dont know about...and reading your comments made me wonder even more. I know the obvious things that would need to be done, but it seems there are a lot of little things.

For 21 years now. I bought it used in November 1982. I have done some (reversible) mods to it, most of which are apparent in the above shot: new tuners on the bass neck, new, white pickguards & nameplates, new mute, 5th knob replaced with a mini-toggle switch for mono/stereo, mono jack socket removed, stronger bar magnets fitted to both treble pickups, and original jack plate (which came badly corroded by rust, hence I could never make serial number out - pots on the guitar date it to 1979) replaced (XX 0382).
