NAMM 2013

Post by stringsncords »

It's coming - we're 4 weeks away.

What are you hoping for in 2013? And, what do you think will actually happen?

More 330S models and colors? A double-bound model? A revival of the 4005?

Time's yours....!

Return of the black trim option?

Just dreaming, but it sure looked nice on that one off copper 381/12.
If there isn't a 12 string Rickenbacker playing at my funeral, I'm leaving.

Yeah, I'd be happy to be able to order black binding instead of white (I don't really care about the rest of the hardware being black). And, having the option to add checker binding would be fantastic!

Same thing I want every year, fellas: reissues of Rose Morris 1997 and 1993. Tom Petty was one lucky duck.

It seems like RIC's production capacity has slowly but surely expanded over time, leading to more experimentation and a new standard finish in spite of the backlog (bad economy may be decreasing demand a bit too)... hopefully we'll see some more new and exciting things, but even if not the way they continue to improve their existing models "under the hood" is something I admire. (The switch to two-piece necks on basses a couple of years ago, for instance. I'm also a fan of the new UV-cured varnish.) Before I got banned from TalkBass it seemed like, in spite of a crowd of impassioned brand-bashers, the overall opinion of RIC was actually improving in the group of people that actually matter, i.e., instrument buyers. Of course that's no scientific study by any stretch of the imagination...

If it's just a wish thread, a checkered binding option for the 4003, and a full width inlay option for the 4004 would be nice...and oh yeah, the comeback of the 4002! :)
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Lest we forget this prophetic post regarding someone looking for a Townsend model:

"by John Hall (johnhall) » 13 Dec 2012 07:52 am
Your *MIGHT* want to hold back on this for awhile . . ."

I am hoping Jake is 100% spot on and Mr. Hall is referring to making this dream come true at NAMM 2013. :D :D :D

Something similar to what Mr. Petty got for his tour would certainly be a welcome addition to my RIC family.

A 6 & 12 pair of new "Pettys" would suit me just fine, as well!
