Some think it was used on "I Need You" as well, but it's debatable.... anyone else?? I'm thinking I forgot a couple...

Going back to the Every Little Thing/rick 12 or not subject and according with “The Beatles as Musicians: the Quarry Men Through Rubber Soul” by Walter Everett (Oxford University Press 2001), Harrison plays the tremolo-enhanced Ricky 12 with a strong midrange resonance boost from the Vox in the third track of the song.

The author also adds 14 more songs where Rick 12 is used including in this list the unusual mentioned: I’m Happy Just to Dance With You (only the C sharp minor triads that sustain through the four-measure intro) It’s Only Love (repeating C in the intro and choruses) and Here There and Everywhere (from 1:03 to 1:09 and from 1:37 to 1:43 and also in the final two bars)

Well, I think the definitive list of songs played with Rickenbacker 12 is: Can't Buy Me Love,I Should Have Known Better, If I Fell, I Call Your Name, A Hard Day's Night, You Can't Do That, Anytime At All, Every Little Thing, What You're Doing,Ticket To Ride, If I Needed Someone, I’m Happy Just to Dance With You, It’s Only Love and Here There and Everywhere.

Javier: Everett's book is interesting. I can hear the Rickenbacker 12 string on all of the songs mentioned, with the exception of "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You." Anyone else. These are full chords being played in the intro and it sounds like a six string to me.

is anyone there to help me, please? I am a bit confused at the moment. Every time I listen to these 'A Hard Day's Night' related songs I hear Lennon, Lennon, Lennon!
As I posted elsewere in the forum recently, to me there's only one single guitar playing 'I'm happy just to dance with you', the 325 Miami (DB122), played by John. No George, not on acoustic nor on electric guitar.

'Every little thing': there is a new photography in the forum with John playing his 325/12 and
simultaneously Paul playing the 325 Miami, doin'
the 4 intro notes to John's twelve string melody line. That's it. No George, no 360/12.

Let us please go back to 'Can't buy me love': George is playing his 12-string Rickenbacker. But who played the double tracked solo? We can hear even a third echoing dub. And is the player using a vibrato?

All I can say for sure: at the very end of take seven of 'She's a woman' later in 1964, John is fooling around playing all kinds of solos including something that sounds just like 'Can't buy me love' to me.

Regarding Ticket to Ride, I've read quite a few times that it was Lennon playing the intro on his 325/12 but, I've also read an interview with George where he states that Ticket to Ride was the last song that he used his first 360/12 on.

I don't suppose we'll ever really know who used what.

It sounds to me a Ric 12 string was used on the...
1. Chimey part of Dr. Robert (well well you're feeling good..)
2. Tremolo chimey part of Got To Get you Into My Life.
3. Descending arpeggio bridge between Sgt Pepper intro and With A Little Help From My Friends. Have to listen close for this one.

I've seen live pix ('66) of George playing the new style 360/12. I wonder if his statement of using the 12string for the last time on Ticket to Ride meant his original Ric not 12 string Rics in general.

Frosty: I took it to mean the last song he used his original 360/12 on. The quote actually appears in Andy Babiuk's excellent "Beatles Gear" book.

and maybe Things We Said Today? Our guitarist Peter plays 12-string in this song and it sounds good. I've also heard cool 12-string:-) solo on Can't Buy Me Love, I think it was some live performance of The Beatles.
