SITE GOING DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE

Post by gibsonlp »

Hi guys.
In a few hours I will be taking the entire website (including register, main rickresource pages and of course - the forum) down for maintenance purposes.
I don't know how long will it take, should be under an hour if all goes well, could be more if not.
I plan on starting the process around 5 or 6AM EST.

Sorry for the short notice.
So long and thanks for all the fish!

I hope that everyone would like it, or at least - get used to it :)
It's matching our new website, checkout the main page @ http://www.rickresource.com

No style options, I see. I liked the warm colors of the old site as it looks better to my eyes and also helps differentiate this forum from all the other out there.

I think I'm gonna have to be in the "get used to it" camp...

I was running "Pro Silver" colors before so it's not really any different color-wise. But all of those red buttons...

The text for the Price List, Register, Store, and About under the main banner are quite hard to read, looks pretty much white on white with just a bit of shadow on my displays.

Perhaps we could change this to make it a bit more readable?

Edit: Hmm, OK. I see that in FireFox, these words are IN the red banner and are just fine. In Chrome, they show up under the banner for some reason. Looks like Internet Explorer puts them under the red banner too.

CJ, thanks for the tour. Things do look a little different with different browsers. Who knew. Well we knew but it is hard to create something that works will all browsers equally well. I prefer the Firefox look at present.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Looks great!

My only feedback is that the "pricelist" isn't worth promoting in the header. It's wildly innacurate and suffers the same problem as the vintage guitar price guides - it's constantly out-of-date. The prices listed in the RRF list are maybe collected from auction prices, but they don't reflect condition (like a vintage price guide does), and there are too many overlapping categories of the same guitar. What's the difference between a 1996/6 and a 1996/6 with F-hole? Same guitar!

That's my $0.02 though, take from that what you will. To me, that feature is useless.
