The article specifically mentions a photo of George with his "red Rickenbacker." I also heard this mentioned on our local news radio earlier today. I saw The Beatles in '64 in Baltimore (2nd show) and he played that very guitar on "A Hard Day's Night" and "You Can't Do That."."

I am always amazed at the amount of things that keep turning up nearly fifty years after they first became known.
