Interested to know if it's known when or which album the Brassmaster was first used, as the BM came out in 72, but was it used on Close to the Edge or Fragile or was this the Marshall Supa fuzz pedal.

Hey Seans, actually, I think they were out in '71, so it sounds to me like he used it on "The Fish" on the Fragile record, though it might be the Marshall Supa fuzz. It's definitely on CttE and Yessongs.

That's a great link thanks, I'm just in the process of assembling a Supa Fuzz, only a handful of components which I pretty much have in the depths of various old boxes and I just love the sound on Looking Around.

I have one of these I assembled last year. It's very close to my Bass Brassmaster. And for the price, it's way cheaper than a real Brassmaster. I highly recommend it.

John, no, I think '74 was the last year they were made. I've seen them sell for almost $2000 on eBay, crazy. Most seem to be around the $1000 range, maybe up or down a few hundred, depending on condition.

As pointed out, real Brassmasters are going for big bucks on e-bay. Surprisingly, Flea uses a b:assmaster these days.

I tried a GGG clone with Germanium diodes, it had a very bad hum that I couldn't get rid of, so I ended getting the silicon version. It sounds almost the same as my Brassmaster and is a whole lot cheaper. It's not that hard to assemble, takes a couple of hours or less, depending on your skills, but there's good instructions on the site to help.
