I've been gigging that one as received for over a year, action is workable (I like 'em medium-highish), but I do need to spend some quality time on the setup. Good eye! Yeah that seems to be the case - that it was a factory anomaly. I tried to reverse the surround, but the holes don't line up...BAD RONBO, KiLLeR DWaRfS wrote:chromium...was the surround on the mapleglo reversed from the factory ???

You have my old JG '73! I'd recognize it anywhere, with all the wear and that sharp-*** surround...most surrounds have either short- or long-radius corners, few are solid 90 degrees like that.chromium wrote:Thanks! Thanks, Woody! Yeah - that T-Bird is a '76. Slightly beaten, but not broken.. and it sounds beautiful. The sidewinder pickups are (re)wired in parallel like the 60s and modern TB IVs, and it doesn't have much of that midrange "honk" that sometimes characterizes these. Actually, it sounds very "open" with bell-like mids, and somewhat Ric-ish IMO! That and the JG are my main players now (...and I sometimes take out a '73 Triumph)woodyng wrote:Beautiful trio,Joe! And yes, that bass had a high action when I owned it (not by choice, I just never got around to resetting it).
