Sorry - I keep yacking on about my HB1 equipped 4003 basses!

Sounds awesome (with Dane's wiring advice), especially with the HB1 and Hi-gain combined!

Looks kind of smart too!

Volume balance is surprisingly good.(I use a 500k volume pot on the HB1 and a 250k volume on the Higain.)I had to reverse wire the HB1 with blue as hot and red to ground, since following the Ric schematic with red as hot puts it out of phase with the Hi-gain. It seems that Higains and HB1s are naturally out of phase, but, the reverse soldering cures that. The coil tap on the HB1 sends the bass straight back to 4001 territory! There's no reason that a second push/pull could not be used, to give the option of a vintage tone capacitor in series with the HB1 too.

I really believe that this should be an option on new 4003 basses. It is just soooooooooo versatile!
