On your Rickenbacker guitar or bass, is the top of the jackplate's serial number facing toward the strap knob or away?

Does anyone have a guitar or bass that has the jack plate's serial number pointing the other way?

Like this one:
From the Rickenbacker Register, Serial Number FD1117, a 1966 360-12

It looks like the serial number plates originally faced the strap knob, and at some point it turned around.

Does anyone know when it turned around?
