push/pull pot

Just found a spare 500k alpha push/pull pot in my box of electronics. I've got a sleeve that will convert from split shaft to solid, and thought I might pop it into one of my 4003s to re-introduce the vintage cap. Both basses already have an HB1 in the bridge, with a Ric official push/pull.

This spare unit is 27mm deep.

Anybody know if it will fit into either my 88 or 98 4003? I think the 88 is deeper, as the 98 is already bottoming out with the ric p/p pot! Too much hassle to take off the pickguard, especially if somebody already knows!

I believe the one sold on the Rickenbacker Boutique is a special item that has a shallower base.

Guy, it might fit if you cut the grounding tab off of the bottom, but I've heard an HB1 with the .0047uF tone cap and.....it kinda sucked, so you may want to reconsider. The push-pull RIC currently sells is a 330K pot, so I'd pass on it since 500K is optimal.

I had to pull/cut the bottom tab off the one I put in my '79 4001 when I replaced all of my pots. I also had to move my ground connections to the side of the pot instead of the bottom so that it would fit in place. This was a standard CTS push/pull DPDT. The one I bought a while back from Pick of the Ricks was actually a "normal" looking pot with only an on/off type switch (it didn't have the DPDT setup). That one had plenty of room.
