for years, i've moaned the "upside down R" tailpiece and always swapped mine out for a trapeze. i noticed photos of Ricks that shows there is now a "reverse" R tailpeice? it looks way better than an upside down R. when did they start making this type?? here's an example of the difference:

Looks somehow like a reversed or photoshopped picture.

Yup. I believe Mr. Hall has stated it would cost up to $30,000 in retooling costs to make a lefty R and they could never sell enough of them to justify the expense. Besides, I don't think the R would translate lefty anyway. If you don't like the R, just get a lefty trapeze for that great vintage look.
:)

Yeah, I can believe that. Tooling for that sort of thing is quite expensive.

Now, what they really need to make is a tailpiece for lefties tat has a big 'L' on it...

The "backwards R" (Я) tailpiece would be for Russian export (the "ya" tailpiece)...

This wouldn't have happened if the company made Hall guitars.
Or Ockenbackers :?

indeed. i have outfitted every Rick i've ever owned with the trapeze. :)

i wonder if RIC will ever wind up making the trapeze standard on all Lefty models?

They made plexi TRCs and vintage cases standard with lefty models, why not a trapeze? I like your thinking, Colin...
