just plugged my 2006 jetglo in and treble pickup is almost silent , i can hear a horrible distant sound practically no output, checked all the wiring etc all seems ok, i dont have test meters or any such equipment, bass pickup is fine, first issue electronic with a ric, any ideas or is pickup dead?? cheers George

You didn't plug a mono cord into the stereo output jack did you? You would only get one pickup that way.

Hopefully it will be a simple fix, if one is needed.

The contact on the mono jack may be dirty or need tweeking. Also look at the selector switch, it may need cleaning.

thanks already looked at that everything is fine. jack socket was my first thought , everything is solid.

everything was fine until i fitted a treble surround then this. i have fitted these loads of times never an issue.

I've had the earth wire break off the treble pickup when I took it apart to fit a bezel. Worth having a look. It was unnoticable until I removed the pickup.

thanks steve i have taken the assembly apart just can't find anything wrong, have taken both inputs out for inspection all secure and solid, been over the wiring don't know how many times. can't find any loose wires etc, crazy thing is the bass pickup sounds a lot louder now!!! are there any components in the cavity that if they were faulty would stop the treble pickup from performing as it should. its driving me mad!!!!

It's very possible that George has a similar issue if the outpuck jack and pickup switch contacts check out okay. Check around all of your wiring for a break or weakened solder connection.

thanks joey, is it likely to be anything else??? if the earth connection was broken would that stop the output of the treble pickup?? also is it safe to take the actual pickup from its mount the 2 screws on the bottom of the assembly to see if the problem is in there somewhere??

Yes, if you do it carefully.

been working with the bass for hours getting no where, any reason why a pickup would just give up???

It sounds like it's time to take the pickup out or at least unsolder the leads & check with a meter to see if the pickup coil is shorted out or open.

Before you do that, look into the cavity where the jacks are from the inside. It's usually not too roomy in there. If the switched jack (mono as I remember) happens to get turned a bit, the wood wall of the cavity can prevent the switch blade from being able to move outward when the jack is inserted. If it can't do this and disconnect the circuit, it will temporarily kill one pickup. The fix is to loosen the jack's nut and spin the jack a little bit until the switch blade can move freely without contacting the wood. Then tighten the jack's nut to keep it in that position.

thanks todd i looked at that, and it was fine the platsic drum at the top strikes the plate ok . appreciate that reply as that could have been the fault. George
