Adding Bass-Cut Cap

Would it be OK to add a bass-cut cap [with bypass switch] to a non-Rickenbacker bass such as a Jazz Bass? Wouldn't it do the same thing as on my 4003 basses? I would get all of the lows from the neck pickup and use the bridge pickup for treble "seasoning".

Yes, it would do essentially the same thing, but the overall effect might be a bit different due to the different pickup placement, etc.

The Jazz Bass bridge pickup is already so thin and nasal, you might want to consider using a bigger capacitor. To see if you'll like the mod try rolling off the bridge pickup volume until the sound "blooms" and becomes slight louder than when both pickups were full volume. It will sound most similar to that.

Yes, I failed to mention anything about the cap value. How it sounds will also depend a lot on what value cap you use. Larger values will allow more bass through, smaller values, less. Figuring out what sounds best will probably be mostly a trial and error process, until you find something you like...
