Introducing... Chinook!
Introducing... Chinook!
We've had him for about 2 weeks now, I just finally got around to getting a few pictures.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Introducing... Chinook!
He looks super intelligent. Congrats CJ.

Border collies are brilliant, and he's a cutie! Do you have anything for him to herd? (Besides Rickenbackers?)
Re: Introducing... Chinook!
We have raised sheep for quite a few years. This little guy already shows a LOT of herding instinct. He's definitly a "header," it's almost impossible to walk with him 'cause he wants to get in front of you and stop you. This is generally what you want for sheep, a dog that will run around to the far side of the herd and then stop anything from running away from you, driving them towards you.woodyng wrote:Border collies are brilliant, and he's a cutie! There's still lots of training to go, but it's good to see a pup this young that has at least some of the instincts you need...

Nice looking pup. He looks deceptively mellow in that pic...I imagine that normally he's just a black blur.
If it is to be, it is up to me.
Re: Introducing... Chinook!
I just saw this thread. Congrats on the new pup/assistant shepherd. You already know that my family are Border Collie fans. I love the bumper sticker that says, "My Border Collie is smarter than your honor student". Very cool name, BTW.
It's a Byrd, it's a playin'..........

Re: Introducing... Chinook!
Thought I'd give an update. Chinook is no longer a little puppy, he's about 6 months old now. And, like most border collies, he's totally OCD about all sorts of things. Rain-Bird type sprinklers are one of them. He'll spend hours watching 'em, waiting for that perfect moment to run in and get 'em! Then he shakes off the water and does it all over again. Well, at least he stays cool on hot days...
