hey everyone!
I just bought a 2011 ric 4003 in Fireglo. I am really happy with the tone. Its a bit hard to play since the neck is so much bigger than my last Bass, which was a cheapo Ibanez starter kinda bass that wasn't a full scale instrument. anywho, I was looking for a white pearloid pickguard. I think it would look super sexy on this bass, but I can't seem to find a one piece gaurd anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Try pickguardian.com

Tony's stuff is top notch and he's got lots of materials, including pearloids:

I've bought quite a few new pickguards from Tony, all were perfect. You can't go wrong with Pickguardian...

Tony made this for me using the same material as the fingerboard inlays. 8) He made the plexi finger rest, too.

I really like this bass. Which year is it? Around 2009?

Welcome to the RIC owners club! Always nice to hear about another Rickenbacker in Canada...

You will get used to your bass if you play it enough!!

Rickenbackers encourage you to put your thumb on the back of the bass neck central.
This is where it should be and a instrument that is produced as a precise advanced players instrument will be built for that standard of player .
Thin neck basses, you end up with your thumb at the top of the neck.
Do an experiment with your thumb on the back of the neck and again with it over, see how many frets you can span.
You soon see that with you thumb in the centre of the back of the neck you have most control.
Learn to play like this and you will be a far better player with less fatigue.
