I am looking to trade my 2011 Jetglo straight up for a 2004 Mapleglo (my favorite finish). Just curious of what the necks were like in 2004? Also it does not have the walnut wings on the headstock like my 2010 Mapleglo...when did that start?

Can't answer your query sorry, I just wondered why you want to trade your 2011 Jetglo for a 2004 Mapleglo when you already have a 2010 Mapleglo 4003?

Chunky neck. Walnut wings started in '06.

Was gonna guess chunky too. My 2004 laredo is rather beefy, also.

I don't remember the 2004 I played being all that chunky. Not skinny by any stretch of the imagination, though. I wasn't a big fan of the tone--just kind of "thump thump thump" and nothing else. Good for some things but not everything. Then again it wasn't set up very well either so it may have had more potential than I give it credit for.

My mapleglo is a 2005... quite chunky but great tone and midrange.

Cool, I am an upright player too....chunky necks do not skeer me.... But I dig the fact that the headstock is all maple. I love my 2010 with the Walnut wings on the headstock and will be cool to have two different versions of Mapleglo goodness. Now for an 80's Maplegloe with black binding. Also, this Mapleglo is made from one gorgeous piece of maple... makes mine look like a real plain Jane.

Scott, I have a November 2004 MG that has a thicker neck than any other I have. I lovingly refer to it as a baseball bat. It is the most stable neck on any bass I've had. It is also very comfortable to play. If I had to get rid of all but two basses, this and my $109 SX Jazz would be those two. The inlays, though not full width, are beautiful and it is sturdy-built, like a brick....... you know.
