new teaser vid from the DWaRf camp featuring a shot of andy johns 4003/8 that he brought to the studio while we were recording METHOD TO THE MADNESS album. kiss were in the same studio next door when eric carr was in the hospital with cancer. and when gene simmons saw me playing it he stated...dude, I see no reason for more than 4 strings ! to which I replied, "get up and get your grandma outa here ! jumping up and down doing simmons type bass slides on the 4003/8 !!! he just bowed his head and shook it slowly. lmao ! great times with all, and rest in peace andy johns...will miss you dearly. you were quite the character.

Ron.. do you still have the Grabber/Ripper signed by Simmons, and more importantly do you still have the 8 string?

yepper...still have the early model grabber (one piece neck with inlaid truss rod a la fender and straight with neck headstock !) we were in the studio first then heard kiss was pulling into the parking lot. I grabbed the grabber ( hahahahahahahahah) and bolted to the parking lot to the black range rover that simmons had and asked him to sign it. Vinnie Vincent had a brown Mercedes, and paul Stanley and I compared chest hair !!! lol. simmons had a green pedula bass with gene's character graphics and totally dead strings ???
the jetglo rick 4003/8 belonged to andy johns at that time, no telling if his kids have it or was sold off. was very neck heavy but played nicely. I used tom petersson's hamer 12 with "busted" graphics, for the album.
I only played a jam of "back in the saddle" on the dan electro longhorn for that gnarly hollow tone. did not use it on the lp.
