Since i had my 4003 walnutburst returned to me 3 weeks ago, it came back with Elixer 45-105 fitted and i have to say i am impressed with these strings tonally and how long the tone stays bright, i am converted to these strings now, and the nano coating helps your fingers slide too, there are 3 benefits straight away!!!! I was mucking around with Rush's freewill and the tone is spot on!!! here is a quick video as far as i know these strings ar 2 months old.

I discovered Elixir Nanoweb strings about ten years ago and have used them ever since. They sound great and retain their tone for ages. I'm now using Elixirs on my Rick 4001 fretless and 6 string custom fretless (ideal as these strings don't eat up the fingerboards), with Rotosound Piano strings on my V63.

I just ordered a set from Bass Strings Online for my Ruby 4003 which has well-worn factory strings. I normally use Circle K strings which I'm quite happy with, but hopefully these will sound as good and last.

Love the tone! Great work on the solo, that's one more of the many Rush songs I want to learn. Excellent!

Thanks for the tip! And yes, GREAT tone (and execution)!

I have not tried them on my basses but I do have Elixirs on most of my acoustic guitars (only my Martin seems to "dislike" the Elixirs).

thank you guys, i just did my version of geddy's solo it is not note for note i tried to capture the feel more than anything, great bass solo it has always stuck in my head i remember hearing it the first time, and how complex it was at that time !!! i was 18 at the time, and thats what turned me on to Rickenbacker basses just loved the raw sound of that bass.

Nice one George - you always manage to get a fantastic tone from your basses. :D

Question: Are your Elixir Nanowebs stainless or nickle?

Well mine are stainless - I'm trying out the Piano-Bass Rotosounds on my V63 but with that sole exception, I've used those Elixirs for the last decade or so, and see no reason to change - they're that good!
