Hi guys,....it's been a long time since my last post.

I got a set of TI-flats for my 4003.

My question is how Can i get the WINGS BASS TONE like silly love songs, let me roll it....etc etc

I've been trying but I haven't been able to get it.

I know there are some EQ settings on either bass and the amp.

Please I hope you can help me.

Thanks

tone comes from the hands to be honest, you could have 2 basses with the same strings and amp etc , give them to two different players they will sound different!!!!

What George says...

For years I wanted to get the tone Chris Squire gets, and never succeeded. Then I gave up looking for someone else's tone and just decided to go for my tone. I went to flats on my 4001 (very high tension Fender 9050's) and thought before one gig "these strings are dead". And as I played that night I had the closest tone to the Yes tone I ever had. Sometimes it comes to you.

That said, my guess for Macca's tone would be to cut the treble and boost the mids a bit, keeping copiuos amounts of bass. The sustain is somewhat low for Macca too - maybe he was using the bridge mute a bit?

Jorge, you got the right strings for that job! I think the higains in your 4003 are probably about twice as hot as the pickups in Macca's bass would have been,so you might want to lower your amp's input gain to compensate, and maybe roll off the tone pots about 1/4. A tube amp/preamp and a compressor would also help...have fun!
