Along with my 4001, I played upright bass in my high school jazz band. The upright was hard to hear on its own, so I used a miniature Barcus-Berry pickup, the kind that was fastened to the wooden bridge with putty, and I played that through my amp.
One day I had the idea to attach the pickup to my bassoon, right next to the reed, and play the low notes through the amp at very high volume. Let me tell you - that was fun.

The bassoon went through an Acoustic 150 and a Randall 4 x 12. Still one of the best things I ever did...

When I saw the band Gryphon in '74 at my first Yes concert you could definitely hear the bassoon throughout the shed!
