Anyone know what strings Matt Osman uses? Every time I've seen him recently he's been playing a '70s 4000 through Ashdowns, although I read in an interview he says he uses a 60s Ric through Ampegs. Whether that's for recording or whether he's got the date of his bass wrong I don't know. He gets a great sound regardless and I think is rather underrated as a player.
Having just looked at some pretty good pictures I suspect that 4000 might be '73 like my old one; it's got the clay-coloured dots which seem to have gone by '74 (and of course as a set-neck it's no earlier than '72).
Still intrigued to know what strings he uses.....

There's a 360/12 on the original recording of "Animal Nitrate", too.
