I got this Rickenbacker 620/12 at my local music store today. It's the guitar in the "I Will Dare" video(bottom)

I think that is from the 1996 Irving Plaza show.

Aye carumba! What a score!

I saw The Replacements live back in their heyday, stood right up against the stage, so I must have drooled over your guitar all those years ago. And "I Will Dare" is definitely a top three Replacements song. Strum away.

Those black and red dots surrounding the knobs, you think they were Westerberg's marks so he could set his guitar just right for a particular song? Have you set your knobs to them, yet?

"Jim Harms My Music Store" in Golden Valley,MN. Paul Westerberg sold this Rick to Jim in 1999 when the store first opened. Jim sold it a to a customer who sold it back to him in 2010.Jim sold it to another customer that same day. I was at the store that same day just a few hours after it had been sold. I was upset that I hadn't been there earlier.I vowed to myself that I would buy that guitar if it was ever sold back to the the store(3rd time is the charm, right?).

Yesterday, when I went to the store to pickup a Teisco guitar I left for a setup and I saw 2 Rickenbacker 620's on the wall,a Mapleglo 6 string and the Fireglo 12 string. I asked Jim about them and he told me a customer had just put them both on consignment. I said to Jim "That Fireglo looks like Paul Westerberg's 620/12" and Jim said "It is".I went home and told my wife about it.she is a big Replacements fan because she grew up here. She said "Oh,you should to get that". So I did.

I just brought it back to the shop today because the last owner had changed the tuners to some locking tuners and he wanted those back. They are going to put the original tuners back on for me.Actually I am not sure if they are the originals tuners or tuners that Paul put on it. I think they are Grovers. Did Rickenbacker ever use Grovers in 1984?
