NBD 1977 4001!

I have had several newer 4003's over the years but have only owned one 4001 in my life. My one and only 4001 was a 1974 White 4001 that I got when I was 17 in 1987 and unfortunately it's frets were all but gone. I have always wanted a 4001 but there has never been one within reach. Well that has changed now jack. I have scored my very own Mapleglo (my favorite) 4001. The original neck pickup was replaced at sometime with a Toaster. The bass is light, the neck is slim and it is a very articulate and resonant sounding bass. I totally get why folks are crazy for the old Rics.

I am certainly a flatwound lover/conasour but I am thinking she is gonna have to wear rounds until I can get another 4001/4003 back in the fold.

Congrats, Scott! :D That is just like my first brand new 4001 that I bought in '76 or '77, but you already have the toaster in it, one less thing that you need to do. (Move it to the 1/2" position).

Congrats, Scott. So, you've played newer 4003 models and now you've got a vintage...do you think vintage is better?

I dig it man, I love both mine. I think I can't decide though between 4003 or the 4001. As I find that both have a mojo all their own. My 4001 over the years has never been on the block if I needed money. Never parted with that one. I will probably be buried with it if i can be.

Yes sir I am currently working on a 2012 Mapleglo and a 2013 Jetglo at the moment. Hope to be able to score both of them in the next few weeks. Anybody in VA need any amps or cabs? LOL :D
