J-Gate Magic
My new JangleBox J-Gate just arrived, and I'm pleased to find that it's easy to use and that it can make even the noisiest rig dead quiet. I've had problems over the years with hum, buzz, and hiss from my pickups, amps, effects units, and even ceiling fans and overhead lights. With just a few minutes of adjusting, I was able to totally eliminate any extraneous noise. A simple A/B test of my rig with the J-Gate turned off and then with the pedal turned on revealed even more than a dramatic difference--something close to a transformation. For everyone out there with fastidious ears, particularly those sensitive to noise, the J-Gate is a miracle pedal.

Nice review Robert.
Less is more when it comes to hum.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: J-Gate Magic
Well, I'll have to respond to my own post. That last sentence is ambiguous. I meant guitar players sensitive to noise, not ears sensitive to noise!!! My apologies for that glitch!
Re: J-Gate Magic
Not to put too fine a point on it, you didn't eliminate extraneous noise, you just muted it, a bit of a bandage solution.
Now gates are wonderful tools when there's no other solution and also are de rigueur when you need to stop bleed, such as keeping the snare out of a hi hat mic. But in the case of a line source, I also strongly believe in spending the time to first try to find the cause of the extraneous noise and eliminating or mitigating it if at all possible. Shielding and quality, low noise components are your friend.

Glad to hear it, Robert! Gonna get me one very soon here, just need to round up a few dollars.
