Guitar ID Help

I have been trying to ID the make and model on this guitar since 1975 . . . any clues?
Don't you just hate it when guys answer their own questions?
Apparently this is a modified mid-60's Gibson Melody Maker. In later years the guitar was refinished in white, and was sold to Joan Jett, who has used it as her main guitar since the late 'Runaways' era. (It is the guitar pictured on 'Bad Reputation', and in other places . . . although today is is apparently covered in stickers.)
