Rickcrazy's big score

Okay guys, here's the news at last!
A couple weeks back I spotted a "major babe" on UK Ebay. The Buy It Now price wasn't that scary - £ 3,995 - so I said to myself, "I've gotta have her!"
And have her I did. She's sitting on my lap as I write this hehe!
What is it, you ask? An October 1969 Mapleglo 21 fret 4001 bass!
Condition is excellent, and everything on it appears original except maybe for the nut.
I guess it's one of the very first 21 fretters to be made. I also believe a couple of its features make it even scarcer, but more of that later.
Pics will be forthcoming of course, however I may have to ask one of you to kindly help me in that department which I'm not one bit knowledgeable about.
Thanks for reading!

Well, look no further: pics of the 21 fretter at issue can be found on the Rickresource Register Gallery!!! What's more, those are exactly the ones the seller put up on Ebay!
That can only mean that one of you guys used to own my new 21 fretter!

Show yourself, please!
Serial # is IJ 549 (October 1969).

P.S Upon my pointing out that the pics showed the saddle block on the bass to be broken, the seller promptly agreed to replace it with a 1968 one.

Hi Sergio
I look a look at the Registry just to see a few shots of this bass but none are available for S/N IJ 549. In fact, the Registry shows that it's owned by a player in London, England - are you sure you have your facts right?

Hi Ashley.
Yes, the guy who sold me the 21 fret 4001 was in London.
As for the serial # on the bass it really is IJ 549.
All four pots on it are dated "6808".

Understood Sergio.
If that's the bass that you have bought (and congratulations by the way, as it's a beauty), then I suggest you update the Registry to show the full serial number, so that it tells the true tale.
