I've been a fan of the Bottle Rockets ("Radar Gun", "Sunday Sports", "1000 Dollar Car", "Kit Kat Clock", etc.) for about 20 years. Their guitar choices can be pretty eclectic, but I've never seen them playing Rics. Here's a show from earlier this year in Milwaukee, with Brian Henneman, playing a 360. Whether it's the start of an extended affair playing Rics, or a one-off, I don't know. Either way, the guitar sure looks, and sounds cool!

Ah! One of my favorite bands (and yes, I have owned a few "thousand dollar cars" so I can relate). I play some of their songs with my 380L/PZ. Nice to see them adopting RICs. Hopefully they will continue down that road.
Gravity Fails is my favorite Bottle Rockets song. Although I think it sounds best in high blast electric, they have done some acoustic sets and you can see some YouTube versions. In one, they do have a what appears to be the FG 360/6 sitting on the stage.
(PS - How do you do that YouTube thing again so the window shows? I put only the numbers in but just got a big blank )

Cool! As for getting the video to embed in the post.
1. Click on the "YouTube" button (it's the red button that's the furthest over to the right).
2. Brackets will appear in your post, that have youtube & /youtube in them (sorry I can't put the actual brackets up - it weirds out the formatting of this post).
3. In between the brackets, past all the content in the video's URL, that comes after V+. In the case of the video URL you posted, you would paste in lWe4-a7PD4c
4. Finish typing in whatever else you want to say in your post.
5. Click on "Submit", and the the embedded video should appear in you post.

I am in the midst of recording a version of Gravity Fails in my home studio. (love the song, great lyrics!)
I am using my Les Paul, my Ric 360/12 and Martin HD-28 for rhythm guitar tracks. I am driving the Ric pretty hard, so its not a McGuinn clean jangle sound, but you know its a Ric and it really compliments the Les Paul.
I will probably try to do the guitar solo with the Ric, and see how it sounds. My guess is I wind up using the Les Paul. Leads sre tough to pull off on a 12 string.

Hey y'all. It's me, Brian Henneman. Bottle Rockets guy. I just registered here today. First thing I see is my band mentioned. I got my 360 in October of 2011, haven't played anything else since, nor do I plan to. Her name's "Rikki". Best guitar I ever owned. Get used to her, she ain't goin' nowhere...

Welcome, Brian!
The 360 sounds great with your music. But, the bassist needs to loose the Daryll Jones bass and get a nice 4004.
Also, don't you know: "You can't play lead on a Rickenbacker!!!" Nice to see you helping to bust that myth.

If you can't play lead guitar on a Rickenbacker, you can't play lead guitar...

Thanks John. I used my original Jetglo 360 on "I Must Be High". I also used it for the solo on "Gravity Fails". My new Fireglo is a better guitar than the Jetglo was. I think the new Rics are the best they've ever made. Rikki's a 2010 model. The Jetglo was a '94...

Thanks for that info, Brian! Cool!
Maybe you know about this - a member here owns a Rickenbacker 12-string (very figured maple, f-hole rather than slash) which has "Wilco" stenciled on the case. I believe it was from circa 1994. I asked Jay Bennett about it shortly before he passed and he didn't remember any Ricks being used during his time in Wilco. Any recollection of that?

John, I don't know what guitars they had. I only know what was around when we recorded AM. The only Rics were my 360, and Easley Studio's old 12-string with the converter comb on it. We could NOT get that old one to play in tune, so it never got used. Mine only got used on "I Must Be High". That was mostly a Tele and Gretsch album. I used an SG Junior on "Casino Queen"...

Killer info Brian, thanks so much. Pure P-90 tone on "Casino Queen"...
Great tone on the '94 360 too!

Wait! There WAS another Rickenbacker on the AM album. It was an old amp. Pretty big. Mighta had a 15" speaker, or two 12s, I don't remember. It was a kind of silvery/gray color, I remember that. Had a built-in tape echo on it. It was old and worn out, and the erase heads wouldn't completely erase the old echoes. That's the weird sound in the background of "Dash 7". We just recorded the amp, with nobody playing through it. It's just the "ghosts" of all the old repeats of the tape delay...
