Hi,

I'm new to this forum so first things first. I'm delighted to finally find a really good forum that has regular updates. I found that the Official Rickenbacker Forum was kind of quiet. I currently own a 360/6 in Fireglo which I finish paying off in March.

I'm going to leave to travel to this shop in the next couple of minutes that has this 1980 Rickenbacker 360/12 in Fireglo. Pictures aren't great so hopefully it looks better in person.

I've never played a 12 String Ricky before so I need to know if the neck is not too thin. I'm kind of a big guy at a height of 6ft 3inches. I want to play this thing to know that it will suit me. Obviously, with it being a 1980 model and being 34 years old, is there anything I need to take into account with a Rickenbacker of this year?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll let you know what it was like when I get back. If I like what I see I'll put down a deposit and pay the balance in March.

So excited. :)

Well I got up there OK, the most amazing Guitar store I've ever been in, a little store on a seafront. They mostly deal in vintage gear. The guy led me into a room filled with Fenders Strats and Teles from the 70s as well as amps from the 60s and 70s from Fender to Marshall to Vox. He took the Rick down from the wall and handed it to me. I was amazed at how well it had aged over the 34 years of it's life. It had faded into an orangey/amber colour from it's original Fireglo colour. It felt a little heavier than my 2011 360 6 string. I plugged it into a Fender Hotrod on the clean channel with a bit of reverb. It just sang. Even with these basic amp settings. Just beautiful. I was instantly in love with this guitar. I put down a small deposit on the spot and will be back in March to pay the balance. Then she will be mine!

Thanks Scotty, I did find the width of the neck a little cramped but nothing I can't adapt to. :)

Thanks Chris. :)

That's a stunning 360 and an amazing colour.

It's going to take the patience of a saint to wait the 6 weeks or so till this beauty is in my hands.

Get yourself a 610, and after playing that for a while, the 360/12 fretboard will feel as wide as a motorway!

That's a lovely looking 12, by the way. Well done and welcome!

ps- nice Jazzmaster :)
