Another New Guy

Hello Everyone,

I discovered RickResource a couple of days ago during a search for a 4001v63/4003S bass. I owned a 4001FG and a 4000MG back in the '70s and have always wanted another Ric, so I'm very happy to find this board. I've learned quite a lot while looking for another Ric bass, and I hope to catch up on Ric lore and lineage some day. Thanks in advance for all the knowledge that everyone has shared here. Maybe I can make some small contribution at some point in the future.

Mandatory reading around these here parts is The Bible According To Paul. It's a fine tome that many of us now have been anointed with and we keeps stuffed in under our robes held in by hemp belts and R buckles.

Thanks for the plug, Jeff. He means my book:

What you can't get from the book is the camaraderie of this forum. Welcome!

I've spent the past few days exploring (and making a purchase - thanks, Sean!). What a great forum and cool bunch of people. I think I'm going to enjoy hanging out here, maybe to the detriment of my checking account. :? I will be sure to order Paul's book and do my homework. Thanks to Sean, CJ, Jeff and Paul for the warm welcome! Now to find me one of those R buckles...

Thanks for the nice welcome, guys. Woody, my first 4001 (a'71, I think) was bound and had the standard fingerboard inlays, but I have always been a fan of the contoured body and dot neck on the S models. The CS that I bought from Sean is on the truck for delivery today, so I can cross "always wanted another Ric" off my bucket list. I'm excited, and glad to be back in the Rickenbacker club! I can't wait for the regular Sunday afternoon rehearsal of my band, Rock Preservation Society. I'll let you know how it goes.

Stick around a while, you'll find another "another" Ric to want. :D

+1

Go to a Confluences and play some other basses, you'll soon start to think, "I'd like to have one like that" ... :) 8)

My interests aren't confined to bass - I play guitar, too. This could get costly in a hurry!

How often do these Confluences happen and where? Attending one will probably replace "getting another Ric" on my bucket list now...

Confluences happen every so often .... at different locations in US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, etc. Check out the Forum section for Rickenbacker Conferences and Confluences and see if any of the events work with your schedule or travel plans, etc.

And welcome aboard the RRF, Basspilot !

I'm planning to attend NAMM in January of next year. It would be fun to have a confluence there and maybe do a factory tour, since Santa Ana is just a stone's throw away from Anaheim.

And, I just ordered Paul's book from Amazon, so I should be a lot more up to speed on Ric basses in a few days!

RRFers get together several times per year down here, so let folks know if you are going to be in the vicinity ....

Regarding visiting the factory, generally it is not open to the public.
