Hi All, I'm looking at a 1991 Jetglow 610 and trying to figure out of the seller's price is right. It's got the odd scratch here and there, minor fretwear and one "wrong" knob. Neck seems straight and the electronics seem fine. Sounds like magic through my AC15, but I'm balking at spending the cash. Oh, it has the original (damaged) HSC. It's been up on CL for a month at $800, though I realize not everyone goes for Rics. Does this seem like a good price? Cheers!

If you check the price list on this site, the average for a 610 is around $1000. If its in good shape, I'd probably buy it at $800 and I already have a 620. I'm no expert, but for the most part, I think it's fairly tough to find any Ric in good shape for under $1000 except for some of the bolt-on neck models.

The 600 series isn't nearly as popular as the 300 series, so that may explain the slow sale, but they're great guitars.

OK wow, thanks for the advice, guys. Sorry, I hadn't seen the price list. I'd only had one only Ric and it was 10 years ago - a very nice 330 for $600, ha. Would you say a 610 is a versatile guitar?
I'll have to let my '70s Epiphone ET-290N go to keep the herd small, but the 610 might be a great upgrade to my arsenal.

How bizarre... I own an Epiphone ET-290 as well... (Mine is finished in their copy of Fireglo)
The 610 pick up wise is exactly the same as as 330... ie High Gains with no stereo Ric-o-sound...

It is just a simpler version of a 620.. I have no idea why they are not more popular - but the market seems to favour the more deluxe 620s more...

Either way a great starter RIC at a great price...

Ha, that is bizarre! Those are sweet guitars you have there! How would you say they stack up? I play a mix of old school punk, reggae and Afropop, running through an AC15. My ET-290 is really easy to play, but I find it has a Tele-like sound that isn't always the sound I need.

I am fortunate enough to own about 25 guitars - each one is different.

The ET290 was a lucky garage sale find. I paid $40 for it.

It is not stock it has Seymour Duncan's in the bridge position which likely makes it much hotter then yours...

My 620s are my main go to electrics...

One is stock (02 BG) and the other (JG from 1977) was moded with EMGs before I got it... They have very different sounds as a result.

That is why you need to own more then one!

I would say (and have said in a few past posts) that IMO, the 610/620 is the most versatile Ric model. They definitely sound like a Ric, but they have a slightly fuller, 'less specific' sound than the 330/340/360/370 series and the 310/320/350 family. The high gains are very versatile pickups, as well. Add that together and you get a very versatile guitar.

I haven't played an ET-290, so can't comment in a relative sense.

Thanks for all the good info guys! If my Epi sells soon, I think I'm going to go for the 610!
