But not mine.... :P Might as well make next year's color "Baby-girl Pink" to match, LOL! Oh well, I'm happy for everyone that was hoping for Blue Boy!

There's a guy in town here with a Blue Boy 4003 w/vintage gold pick guard and TR cover...I'm not a fan of the color either, but I have to say...It looks pretty sweet with the gold....

Yeah, I suppose it would look better with the vintage gold.... And actually a couple of months ago John Williams posted a picture on Voxtalks of his 4005 bass that he had refinished at the factory in Blue Boy, and it looked really cool on that instrument.... It's just not my favorite color (I just don't care for pastels; I don't like to wear them, either!).

Ahhhh, but BlueBURST would be a whole different story.... I would be ready to put money down at a moment's notice for one of those!

My first thought too was "Pink in 2005" when I saw this Blue Boy. Looks a bit weird to my old european eye.

Pink, like the '56 Combo 400 pictured on page 98 in Smith's Rickenbacker book?

Actually, I like that one.... That one would be cool for a Ric chick like me! ;) I was imagining a more pastel pink to match the Blue Boy shade (you know, the shade that they put on the "It's a girl" birth announcements).... But if Ric really did decide to do a shade of pink, the color in that picture would be a winner with me! Love the body shape of the Combo 400, too.

That model number in the Smith book is a misprint. The pink guitar is a Combo 600. They goof it up again in with the "Coverfield Green Combo 400" in the photo on the bottom of that page- which is neither a 400, nor Cloverfield Green (It's a turqois 600).

That's "Turquoise". I guess I'm just as guilty of misprinting.

Fender has a colour called something like shell pink or so, looks good on a Strat. RIC seems to be on the Fender trip anyway, they had Seagreen, which is similar to Fender's Sea Foam Green, now it's Blue Boy, which looks like Fender's Sonic Blue. Fender has also a gold colour, which RIC had with the Desert Gold (don't know which company had that first...).

I have found a few mistakes in that book too, such as the one about all 4005 basses having 21 fret necks. If only that were so!!!

Melissa,

I think the pink Combo 400/600 may be lighter as the photo is kind of on the dark side of neutral. So it may in fact be the color you want.

Peter,

Better late than never, RICs colors have been great over the years, but since these "Fender" colors are very popular, why not include them in the lineup.

F**d*r's pink is like coral giving it that 60's vibe. That's better than "baby-girl pink"!

OK. Introducing "Pink-Girl"! (Sorry about the amateurish Photoshopping).
