Cleaning a Ric

As I get ready to finally replace the electronics and get a new pick guard. I need to clean everything. The bridge is nasty and the body has smegma here and there. What are the best cleaning items that can be used on a '77 4001 without harm?

Thanks!

Isn't Zymöl a polish/wax? That would be used after everything is clean. Start with naphtha, get a can at your local hardware store. You can clean every part of the bass with it without any harm to anything. Just do so in a ventilated area or outdoors if you will be spending significant time with it at one shot.

If theres smegma in there you may need to clean more than just your bass!

 ROFL!

Seriously though, I'd recommend an ultrasonic cleaner for the metal parts - I bought one on my luthier's recommendation and it works a treat. See here.

Awesome Suggestions! I'll be ordering the harness, pick guard and new strings soon. The 77 will shine once again!
