dating a very early 425 (I think?!)

Back in the late 80s/early90s I came across a finish-worn, mod-ded and abused and routed up the wazzoo 425 (I think 425 is the right number -- single pickup version/'cresting wave' fireglo short scale, no evidence of a tremolo -- at a guitar shop in new hampshire.
they had put some kind of awful red-mirror mother of toilet pick guard and silly chervil(?) pups in it ... ick ....
Anyway, the bridge plate had been abused by someone who was very, very high or drunk (stamped number not so clear) ... but what I can say for sure is
1) This fireglo 425(?) had a saxophone style strap thingy routed into the back
2) The Ric nameplate on the headstock is stamped metal/tin rather than white plastic ...
no question this specimen is worth nothing to a collector, but just for my own curiosity, I wonder if the combo of saxophone strap thingy and metal nameplate + body type would conclusively place it in a year, or at least prior to 1960?
I tried re-searching this topic back around 2000 and the results were inconclusive ... figured maybe there's more info out there now ...
Any help would be appreciated ...
