Vintage Tuners

I want to replace my tuners on my 330 with Klusons. I bought gotoh tuners from Srew Mac, but they are too short to reach through the headstock due to the thickness. Now I know some kluson tuners are a little longer to compensate for this.

Can anyone tell me if these tuners from ebay will work:

Or am I going to have to pay a premium for tuners from a Ric source like these:

This should be as simple as finding out the post length from the seller. The ad for the first set says "The housing and button type are period correct for 1956 - 1964 production dates," so they may be too short for what you need.

Have you tried Pick of the Ricks? If anything, I think speaking to Chris Clayton on the phone or by e-mail might help you find a solution. Here are the replacement "Klusons" POTR carries: http://www.pickofthericks.com/products/ ... 00565.html

These may be the ones made by Gotoh, so disregard this if they're the same as the ones you got from Stew Mac.

By the way, if you decide to go with the POTR Rickenbacker Vintage Guitar Keywinds, I have an unopened set of them with screws and bushings that I would part with for $35.00.

Curious, why do you want to do this? I ask because my reply to your OP depends on what you're going for.

I'm going for vintage appointments on my 330fg. Toasters, trapeze etc

Since the tuners and trapeze baseplate* have a different footprint, you'll basically be devaluing your guitar, and still not be all the way there if it's a 24-fretter. You might be better off being patient and selling your 330 to fund something like a 360/12V64, etc. Plus those toasters will sound better on a 21-fretter!

*Although Winfield makes a conversion bracket.
