A nice looking November '72 fireglo was just listed on the auction site as a '74 with a buy it now of $2K. I was just about to hit the button and POOF! Gone...

Here's a link to it:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/034-74-034-Rick ... 7675.l2557

I only hesitated for a second because of the guy's low feedback numbers, but if whoever won this gets what's in the pictures, scooooore!

Whoever the winning Bidder was it doesn't look like the Seller went through with the sale (check the feedback).

I imagine we may see this one again at a higher price.

Nice looking Bass!

That's a dumb buyer. At least it was not the NJ guy.

Whatever you mean by that...

I was the one hitting the BIN-button, and I executed the payment via PayPal right away. Minutes later, I received a message by the seller that he would not do business with a person outside the US. He refunded the payment and could not be persuaded that it does not make a difference to him. I even had provided a shipping address in the US (as requested in the listing).

Honestly I am quite ******. Of course it was a bargain. If the seller had intended to exclude certain buyers (for example from abroad or zero-feedbackers) he should have mentioned so. There was no mentioning of such exeption, neither in the listing nor in the settings. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to bid in the first place. He received his money seconds after the sale, so I can only assume that he found out that he may have gotten more for the bass and backed off. Difficult for me to claim my rights, though.

My guess is that he got a better offer, and who knows where we will read about this bass again.

I would file an e-bay complaint against him. That is dirty pool!

Well, I have been out of town and only noticed this thread today. Madison, TN is here just to the north side of Nashville. Not the best of locales these days.
If it pops up again, I may attempt to look at it in person. Perhaps, Jaymi drove up from Spring Hill and snagged it :-)

Awesome looking bass! Lousy business practice on the seller's part. Not sure If I'd feel very comfortable dealing with the seller with such low transactions and now an 88% rating.

I'm sorry for you, normally someone can be convinced to ship anyway, but his ad clearly states this:

Shipping:

May not ship to Belgium - Read item description or contact seller for shipping options. | See details

Item location:

Madison, Tennessee, United States

Ships to:

United States
I have missed out on good deals too because of this, it's frustrating.

As I said: He was supposed to ship the bass to a US-address which I provided, so I complied with all his requirements. I see that people can set up rules for their listings and transactions, but please do so in advance and not afterwards.

You are absolutely right, Michael. You should get this bass at the BIN price you hit. eBay should make it clear to him that it's your bass and he can't regret the sale once it's done. And if he refuses, then eBay should ban him.

The problem is, as far as I understand Ebay policies, that Ebay will only pursue this issue in the case of a paid but undelivered item. Since the seller refunded my payment, I'm not even able to open a case on the their website. I guess I will just have to learn to live with this injustice...

This is all making me very thankful for my experience buying my Yamaha BB1200 on "the bay". I was browsing around one night several years ago, and was always on the lookout for one of these basses to replace one I had owned "back in the day". Lo and behold, I see one listed for a RIDICULOUS "Buy It Now" price! Not believing my eyes, I pm'd the seller and asked him if he really had meant to list his bass for that price. He replied within a few minutes, feeling very sheepish about having intended to have that price be the opening bid and NOT a BIN price. BUT, he said... since I had been kind enough to ask, he offered to sell it to me at that unbelievable price if I could BIN it within the next few minutes. Needless to say, I didn't hesitate and have been enjoying the thing ever since!
If only eBay were like that ALL THE TIME.

Exactly. That rating tells you what you are dealing with. Still, very frustrating. Not the first time...or the last...

Is it not the case that once you bid on eBay both parties are deemed to have entered into a contract which the seller has now breached? You may have to contact eBay directly rather than open a case (but quote your item number) and I think this is worth pursuing.
