Hey Guys,

This is my first post and I am new to the forum. I recently purchased my "dream guitar", the CW 360/12. I am the biggest BB fan and an even bigger CW fan. My question is does anyone have production stats on this guitar? For example, ho wmany of each color, etc.

Thanks for any help!

GC

Greg:

Welcome to the RRF!

From the Certificate of Authenticity RIC issued with them we know the run was limited to 500 guitars.

The register has info on 142 of them - many including pictures.

There are two entries that are in error (both non member submitted data). There are no 1982 Carl Wilson LE guitars...

Hi Greg,

Congrats on the new CW - they are awesome instruments.

Part of the mystery of Rickenbacker Limited Edition models is that the company has never released the "official" numbers on the Carl Wilson models; there are 6 and 12 string models, and FireGlo and JetGlo models, but no one outside of the company knows how many of each were produced, and the company AIN'T SAYING!

The same is true with the Roger McGuinn 12-strings that were made in MapleGlo, FireGlo, and JetGlo.

One of the idiosyncrasies of the company called Rickenbacker.....

Now you need a 6-string CW!

Direct quote from John Hall:
The stats have never been published. The total quantity is 500 units but it's certainly not split 50/50 between sixes and twelves. The preponderance of these were Fireglo's, there's a few Jetglo's, as there always are, and finally some lefties in all types.
There are two Mapleglos in the Rick museum/factory (see first two guitars here: http://www.johnbiscuti.net/#/photos/rickmuseum/)

I love the CW's too.
I dunno either. Why the number of 6 and 12 production info not released?
I have a CW 6 I might let go for the right price! 8)

Congratulations on a fine instrument. I kind of like the mystery and when I think of it other companies often not report how many limited edition instruments are made either. It sure makes us wonder though. :)

When I asked John Hall about it over 10 years ago, he said that they weren't done producing them and some special ones were still in the works. I am not sure why the results haven't been published now.

Here's another direct quote from John Hall on 09/17/06 regarding the number of Left-Handed Carl Wilsons.
Even though the question was not how many were made, but rather how one could find out, I'll tell you the numbers:

360CWLH: 3

360/12CWLH: 4

Further notes of possible interest: one each of the 6 and 12 string in Mapleglo still remain unsold in our inventory, and there are six guitars of the series remaining to be produced.
I'm lucky enough to have one of the four.

How interesting to know that there are blonde/mapleglos unsold in inventory, and in both 6- and 12-string variants!
