Any brand out there that makes a roundwound set with a wound G? I hate that plain G.

There are actually 3 I know of that are musicians. We've been in touch for several years and plan to start a distance recording project but it hasn't happened yet.

In addition to the three D'Addario XL sets in 10, 11, 12, & 13's, GHS also makes Boomers sets with a wound 3rd (
http://www.ghsstrings.com/products/1150 ... 62-boomers ) and 11's & 12's Brite Flats groundwounds with a wound 3rd. In addition, Most 12's sets of whatever make or model have a 24w, including RIC's own set as well as the other major manufacturers. Most flatwounds of whatever manufacture have a wound 3rd.
Thank you for considering a wound G third string. In the early '80's I got fed up with the clunkiness and pulling sharp of plain G strings. I custom-ordered GHS 18w's from my local dealer for decades before the major companies started making 10's and 11's sets with wound G strings. Since I now gig more bass than guitar, I use the D'Addario XL115W 11-49, the GHS Brite Flats in 11's, DR Legend flats in 11's and roundwound 12's on my 320.
Jason at guitarstringsonline.com can definitely help choose a proper set.
CAVEAT: If you have been playing a plain G string, and it was intonated properly, the saddle will have to be adjusted forward to intonate a wound 3rd G string.

Musicians Friend ran a Stupid Deal of the Day with 10 packs of Gretsch Chet Atkins strings.
I bought a couple of boxes and was pleasantly surprised to find they came with two G strings, one of each type.
