Got my RIC in the box.

Brown truck delivered my new 4003 MG from Wildwood Guitars last Thursday. It feels great in my hands and hanging on my worn out shoulder with a 2.5" leather strap; it's light!. Sounds muscular through my RH-750 rig too. I already added the treble bezel with a thumb rest and a set of gently used T.I. flats' I might have to back off the truss rods an 1/8 of a turn. This thing is smooth and I can't wait to play it at my main gig through my Avalon U5 and the FOH. Even though I dig the T.I.s, I can't help but wonder If I would be more satisfied with Chromes, EB Group III's or GHS Pressure Wounds. I do like the sound of rounds on this bass, I just don't dig the feel. This one may become my "go to" bass. I'll post pics later today.

I've gotten to dislike the feel of typical RW bass strings which is why I am starting to use TI Jazz Flats on more of my basses. I do like the feel of TI Jazz Rounds (which I have on my '73 4001), they are very smooth feeling for roundwound strings as their outer wire wrap is of smaller diameter wire to keep them from feeling like a wood rasp. I may get a set of those for my fretted Elfin 5.

Have you considered to put half-rounds on your bass? They should sound like rounds but with the flatwound feel

Don't know about "everyone" but AS and JT should reshoot it with RICs in the boxes!

The first thing I though of was:

"Be the first one on your block to have your boy come home in a box!"

Yeah that episode of SNL was on the other night...... As for the strings, I almost put the GHS Pressure Wounds on today, but decided to wait until I gig with it the T.I.'s a couple of times to hear how they sit in the mix. I do like the feel of the T.I.'s. I also found a great sounding string today....Roto Jazz Bass 77's, they have the sound I want, but unfortunately I remember them as being very taught, which I can't hang with.
Now I need to figure how to load pics on this site.....gots to show proof of ownership.

Click on Upload attachment when you open a dialog box to reply to a post. IIRC files can be no larger than 1280x1280/500Kb.

Photobucket is stupid easy to use, you just upload image, click on it, it saves a direct link to image, then you just insert. Even a luddite like me got it to work first time, and without help from my sons!

Yep, but my pics are to large pixel wise, and running them through photo bucket made them blurry. Think I'll resoot the RIC with my other camera....I can adjust the size and content of the pics.

Do you have any basic photo editing software on you computer, or do you do everything with the cellphone? I don't have a CP so I don't know what they are capable of re: editing/resizing, etc.
