Why purchase something like this?

This 12-string just sold for $699 on the 'bay. A used 620 or 330 could be found on a good day in the $1,000 - $1,300 range....
I don't get it.

Especially when you can get those 340 copies brand new shipped to your door with a case on even a bad day for under $500.

That one is not even a good fake.

All of those things are true. And I'll never stick up for a faker. That said, there's a world of difference between $500 and $1500, which was the cheapest I was able to find when I bought my '92 330/12. I think I've seen a Rick 12 for less maybe twice in the last year (and I
was looking), and more like $1300-$1400 - definitely
not around $1K. So I can certainly understand people looking for cheaper alternatives.
But not that piece of garbage!

Back in 2009 I picked up a 610/12 for $500 on Ebay. The deals are out there if you keep at it.

Well, I kept at it until I couldn't any more, and bought the 330/12. I'm very happy with it, but I sure wish I could've found a price more like what you've seen.
Not buying another 12 until I can somehow save up for a good '60s 360/12 - and that will take a while! By then they'll probably be close to $10K - which will have the same purchasing value as $6K today I'm guessing....
