Welcome to the RRF!

The manual that comes with it will have good instructions.

The search feature on this forum will provide you with more than you ever wanted to know...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Yes....If it's cold where you live, bring the box in the house and let it warm up for a day or so before you open it.

Take the case out of the box and let it sit for at least several hours... that is unless you like little cracks in your finish (potentially). Then open it and post some pictures... play it and post some more pictures.... :D

Well, I live in Alabama, and while it was cold last week (17 degrees) it was around 40-50 yesterday, and should remain above that for the remainder of the week. Is that cold enough for me to worry about?

And believe me, I will be posting several pictures of my Ruby Red 4003. Ever since I heard the opening strains of Roundabout 25 years ago, this has been my dream instrument.

Sheesh, and here I thought *I* was old. LOL Thanks for the welcome. Look forward to playing the new axe very very soon. Down to mere hours now.

Are the new light-catalyzed paint and clearcoat that vulnerable to temperature change? I thought that was only a traditional nitro issue? That would be torture, new bass sitting in your living room waiting for it to warm up. I recommend drinking heavily and watching old Yes concert footage on Youtube while you wait. A few corn dogs never hurt anybody either.

Not sure about the different chemistry of finishes and crazing; but I'd let it sit in the case unopened for like 4 to 6 hrs... let it slow rise to ambient. Then play the xxxx out of it!

Incidentally, I've been on this forum for quite a few years, but prior to actually owning a Rick, there wasn't much for me to post about. So not exactly new, just my first post.

I do that even when I don't have a new Rick to open.

My recommendation to all new Ric owners is to remember to wipe the drool off your instrument with a soft cloth.

Bama -- seriously, congrats on your new Ric -- Hope you really enjoy it. And now, with the assistance of all the enablers on this Forum, you can start planning the acquisition of your second Ric !!
