Will There Be an 85th Anniversary Special Edition

The hubby saw me drooling over the 75th anniversary edition 360 on Craigslist and said "why don't you wait for an 85th anniversary edition?". I would think there wouldn't be any special editions made specifically to commemorate the milestone. If John Hall happens to see this, will RIC be doing something to commemorate 85th year of Rickenbacker?

IIRC, the next milestone RIC may celebrate is the 100th anniversary. So, with that in mind, get the 360DCM.

Take a trip to NY!

Yep, Rickenbacker is not like Fender and Gibson, which spew out 'anniversary' editions left and right.

So, I'm getting a vibe that's a big negatory on the 85th anniversary edition....

That's alright. All three of my Rickenbacker instruments are 1981. Since the company history web page says the company started in 1931, that makes all three of them 50th anniversary guitars, even if they officially weren't doing that then. And two of the three have checkerboard.

The Bacon/Day book has an '81 360 50th Anniversary IIRC. Autumnglo or walnut or something like that. Gold hardware and "50th Anniversary" on the TRC, which is all gold-lettered.

Hmm. I was not aware of that, or had overlooked it the last time I read my copy of the Bacon/Day book. I went back and reviewed my copy. Yes, on page 51 is a small picture in the upper right hand corner of page, and it is a "50th Anniversary" 360-12 with gold tuners (the rest of the hardware is standard chrome) and a special TRC, but...to quote the book:
"The guitar shown is a variant that never went into production...."
So I guess we are both right. Thanks. Cheers!

I have that book hiding somewhere. I need to reread it to see that instrument for myself. Thanks for sharing!
