Poaster Pickups- are they potted?

Post by chucksimms »

I have some reissue toasters in a vintage Rick, and when I use a compressor or really hot overdrive I get a lot of squealing... which does not win me any friends in the band! I'm assuming it's more a pedal issue, but could the pickups need potting? Would that help?

Rickenbacker pickups are not the problem, everything else is!

The Ric toaster pickups are not potted like many vintage correct pickups. Change your location in relation to your amp and reduce the gain and your problem will likely go away.
