90125 tour headstock repair..ouch!

I was watching 90125 Live on my new large screen TV and only now have I noticed the (temp?) repair
on Chris's headstock.
Two large string guides like those on a Fender bass headstock are holding down the strings on what appears
to be a forward bend on the RM headstock.
Has anyone posted anything about this and the repair afterwards?
By the way,
(I had the same problem with my ex John Lodge RM.)
These new UHD tvs reveal loads of new detail!

Heres an old photo of DD458 (ex John Lodge RM).
Note the heavy rubber bands holding down the strings so they dont pop out
of the nut.
This bass had a replacement fretboard when I bought it.
It sounded ok but the feel of the neck was compromised by the heavy freaboard.

This is really another are of great interest to me. Was this the first time the headstock broke? If not, then how many times did it break and when was the first time?! I am still dumbfounded, as I am sure many Chris Squire enthusiasts are, about how he is still able to make use of a 50 year old bass that has been on the road so much and has had the headstock broken. I mean, John Paul Jones stated in an interview that he retired his famous 1962 Fender Jazz (I think it was in the mid seventies because touring was taking its toll on it.

All of my old basses do this same thing. The angle is not that great on the old ones.

Gunnar, the head broke off back around 1970 (French TV video shows it) and again in the 80s. Michael Tobias repaired it then. Then it was back to RIC for repair and when the fretboard was removed the truss rod channels were found to be full of glue from that repair and the rods not working because of that. John Hall has posted that here on the RRF.
