Hi Folks,
I know that there are several differencies in construction between these two guitars. It was widely discussed in this forum. But i want to know if there are many differencies soundwise. I cannot believe that the constructional differences in such a small Guitarbody play such a Role..In other words, if i change the pickups of the v63 into Scatterwounds will i have a very close Sound to the C64.

thanks
Peter

Yeah, the pickups are probably about it. The roller bridge might make the C stay in tune better when the vibrato is used, so that's kind of a difference, and another thing you could easily change on a V, like pickups.

I had owned a 325v63 for 14 years and I loved the hot toasters on them, so I personally wouldn't change a thing, however in the RRF archives, there are plenty of tutorials to unwind the hot toasters to scatterwound specs. Not something I personally would attempt, but there are plenty of people who have done this without needing to buy a scatterwound set UNLESS you wished to keep the stock pickups stowed away for further re-installation.

Please don't unwind the hot toasters. If they're in good shape, they're worth as much or more than new scatterwounds. Many people (including me) prefer them on most 6-str guitars and you should have no problem moving them on the For Sale forum.

Thanks for your answers,

I Just changed the middle and neck Pickup into Scatterwounds, a german Ric-Fan gave them to me as he was searching for the Hot Toasters for his 360. So we just swapped ! And for the Bridge Pickup i gathered an 1964 Toaster at german Ebay ! Man, sounds really great ! I hope i have the oportunity to compare my guitar with an 325C64 soon.

Thanks

peter

I always thought that the internal bracing was different between both models: ie, the C64 is X-braced. Can't remember for the life of me where I heard it, though.

Anyway, glad to hear the pickup swap was a success, Peter!
