I did a quick search on here but didn't see any mention of these. Just wondering if anyone has heard much about them? This year I'll probably get a 4003S that I'll likely make my main stage bass and I'm assuming these would make for a good live setup.

Why bother with the SD "signature" pickups? Insofar as I know, Lemmy himself doesn't use them - he uses HB1 pickups, so fit those instead, if you want to replicate his sound (and they're cheaper!)
I have HB1s in the bridge position (with push/pull coil tap on the tone control) on both my 4003 basses. Absolute muts nuts! Pull out the coil tap switch, and straight into classic 4001 territory (on 7.5k). Best of both worlds!
Incidentally - if you wire up an HB1 and a Higain on the same bass, they seem to be naturally out of phase, so simply put the blue to "hot, and the red to "earth" with the HB1.

Al,
Talk to Dane Wilder here on this forum. He is the resident Rickenbacker electronics guru. He's crafted a Lemmy tribute bass that's way cool!! Also, check out Classic Amplification. I ordered pups from him for the "S" bass I ordered. 60's values all around.
Personally, I would not bother ordering anything from Seymour Duncan.

Any reason in particular?

John,
Yes. so many better options available elsewhere. I've never heard a Seymour Duncan pup in a Rickenbacker bass that sounded like a Rickenbacker bass. Instantly makes a 1600 dollar instrument sound like a 300 dollar instrument. In my eyes, as well as my ears, that is a deal breaker.

Totally agree - SD just don't get the ric vibe! AND Dane is a huge HB1 enthusiast! Check out his widely viewed Lemmy tribute Rics!
And a slight side note - feel free to join "Rickenbastards" on Facebook! A thoroughly good group for those who like to tinker with their Ric basses!

Talking about Lemmy; he's looking worryingly unhealth these days.
I hope he makes it through his health problems.
Him boasting about those b*stards being wrong in giving him only six months left doesn't raise confidence either.
He never announced such statements before.

Thanks for the wisdom. I have speaker cabs to buy before I can even think of getting the 4003S (unless one comes along that I can't pass up) so luckily I have time to weigh the options.
And the latest footage of Lemmy I saw playing live he sounded better than he did throughout all of 2013 so I'm hopeful to his health status. I'm hoping it's just his age having him look like that not his health.
