Pole pieces on a modern hi gain

I want to convert a bass high gain to use a toaster cover. The high gain has adjustable pole pieces, so I'm planning on removing the
pole pieces and replacing them with set screws. The problem is that I can't get any of the pole pieces to budge.

I'm assuming all I need to do is use the 3/32 wrench and turn them, but that is clearly not working. Is there some technique or secret to getting pole pieces out?

IIRC from the 2008 4003 I had back then the pole pieces are very tight but they will turn.

After spending about an hour trying to get the pole pieces to move, I managed to get one of them out.

I am so ****** that whoever assembled this pickup clearly used a power driver to put them in and paid absolutely NO attention to how tight they made them. The pole pieces are supposed to be -easily- adjustable using just the supplied 3/32 hex wrench.

I'm not sure who I need to express my displeasure at. .

The pickup will not sound like a Tosater, and will not be as loud as it was, but if you insist on doing this, you MUST use magnetic Allan screws with a high iron content.

Any suggestions on what to do about these pole pieces?

They can be a bear to remove, but they'll budge eventually. Just be careful not to strip the top. I've used plumbers tape on te end of the Allen wrench for a very right fit in the polepiece top. Or better yet, an Allen key driver instead of key.

When you get them out, simply flip the screw to the bottom side and thread them through the magnet (provided the holes go all the way through, which is inconsistent). The pickups will be a little quieter, but no extra parts needed and toaster covers will it on it.
