'68 Comeback Special

The first few years I had this 4001, I called it the Super Mojo Relic, though all the wear is genuine.
However, after having a few non-RIck parts replaced, a refret, and a couple of areas where non original pin straps were located attended to, I started calling it (an early '68) the '68 Comeback Special.
It is the most gigged instrument I've owned, but by who(m) remains a mystery. Someone dug quite a wear spot into the area over pickguard, apparently with their thumb. I was originally going to have that wing replaced but it's since become one of my favorite things about it.

I can see why that brings out one's ''Elvisness". I can feel my sideburns growing and my bellbottoms flapping. Very nice, indeed. Thanks for sharing.

That's no coincidence, Mark. It's a Rickenbacker Limited Edition house over here.

That wear wasn't from me, John. I play with a pick.

Roger that.....I was just wondering if you were gonna put one it where one would usually see it---I figured it had one on it when it was new.
